After tackling my closet reorganization, my next project was a simple IKEA Hemnes Dresser Hack. Since moving into my apartment, I’ve enjoyed creating a space that works for me. It’s comfortable, feminine and it truly reflects my personality. In my bedroom I decided to glam an old IKEA dresser to fit my room decor. It is the perfect size and all of my clothes fit in it; however it needed a little something extra. This is a super easy makeover that anyone can do and it takes less than an hour to complete. My inspiration came from a dresser that I liked but didn’t want to purchase.
My bedroom has gold elements throughout so I found these replacement pulls to add some color to the dresser. Lee Valley Tools has many dresser hardware options and this pull is available in several finishes and sizes. These Burnished Bronze Pull Rings are super easy to install and only require a Phillips screwdriver. Once installed, the look of the dresser instantly changed however it was still missing the glam factor that it still needed.
To achieve this look, I added these overlays from a company that makes them for IKEA furniture. The Anne Kit for IKEA Hemnes dresser has 6 overlays for each of the drawers. Available in either 1/4 or 1/8 thickness, they can be painted or stained to any color that you prefer. I kept them white since the pulls added enough pop of color. Like the pulls, each overlay was easy to install and only required liquid super glue to adhere them to the dresser.
I am thrilled that I was able to complete this simple IKEA Hemnes Dresser Hack within an hour and now my simple dresser is glammed out and is adding to the aesthetic of my new room. I am looking forward to more affordable and stylish ways to transform my apartment.
