2020 began with lots of ideas and personal goals that I wanted to accomplish. I had great intentions in the beginning but somehow after a few weeks I began to lose steam. Months passed by and I had yet to accomplish any of my goals, until I finally decided to get my life together. We are now in November and its still not too late. Are you ready to get out of your rut and finally accomplish some of the goals you set for 2020? Check out these these 5 tips to motivate yourself so that you can stay focused to slay some goals before the end of the year.
Staying motivated has often been a challenge for me. Overthinking and perfection rear their ugly heads and before I know it, my focus has disappeared. Thoughts and ideas are abandoned and replaced by excuses. Beating myself up was a habit, until I finally began to show myself some grace and set necessary routines. Now I am less stressed and able to motivate myself to stay focused.
Morning Ritual
Intentionally making time to clear your mind is essential. A morning ritual sets the tone for the entire day and can include a time for prayer, meditation and exercise. Prayer is a necessity for me. This time of quiet and stillness in my bedroom allows me to worship and connect with God. Offering thanksgiving and aligning my thoughts with His thoughts. In addition a few minutes of stretching provides a time to loosen up my muscles. After doing this, I am relaxed physically and spiritually. Locating a space within your home to disconnect from technology and other people to spend time alone will prepare you for a productive day.
Set Small Goals
If you have a to do list that is anything like mine, it is endless and includes both daily tasks and monthly responsibilities. I’ve learned that incorporating them together is overwhelming and creates anxiety for me. Separating my business tasks from my personal and household obligations has enabled me to pair down my daily list into realistic small daily goals that I can accomplish. Each morning I write a new list of goals and highlight those that are a priority and need to be completed ASAP. This allows me to prioritize and be in control of what I need to manage and complete each day.
Commit To A Daily Work Schedule
Working in 2 hour increments helps me to manage my time and avoid distractions. When the time is up I do something that makes me happy such as make a cup of tea, browse the internet or even respond to a text. These short breaks allow me to plan my day based on the small goals that I have set for myself. I consider it to be a reward for good behavior. In addition, each morning before I start my day, I commit to an end time. This allows me to remain focused throughout the day.
Write Down Accomplishments
Recognizing what I have accomplished motivates me immensely. To see that I have been able to check tasks off of my to do list is exhilarating and encouraging. It especially inspires me on the days that I am feeling discouraged and need a little extra push.
Find An Accountability Partner
An accountability partner will encourage you when you lose focus and help remind you of your long term goals and priorities. My accountability partner holds me accountable and keeps me on track. She helps me to recognize mistakes and always celebrates my accomplishments. During our bi-weekly call, we brainstorm and flush out ideas with each other. Since we are both bloggers we are able to collaborate on ways to accomplish similar goals. We care about each others success and take the necessary steps needed to achieve our goals.
In just 6 short weeks we will be celebrating the beginning of a new year. Have you completed all of the goals that you set for 2020? You still have time, to get many things accomplished if you stay focused.
